Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange that its wholly owned subsidiary, Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), has successfully secured 180 MHz of spectrum in Pakistan’s Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS)/5G spectrum auction.
According to the company’s disclosure, the auction held on March 10, 2026 by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority allocated PTML 60 MHz in the 2600 MHz band and 120 MHz in the 3500 MHz band, bringing the total spectrum acquired by the company to 180 MHz.
Following the auction, the Assignment Stage was conducted on March 12, 2026 to determine the specific frequency positions within each spectrum band. PTML secured its preferred frequency positions in the 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz bands through competitive bidding.
The total price for the acquired spectrum amounted to $156.75 million, according to the company’s filing.
PTML is expected to sign the NGMS/5G licence agreement with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority after completion of the required formalities. The company plans to roll out 5G services subsequently while further enhancing nationwide mobile broadband connectivity.
The upgraded spectrum capacity will also support improved cellular services for PTML’s brands, including Ufone, Telenor and Onic, enabling faster data speeds and advanced digital services for customers across the country. – ER News Desk
