Pakistan, China Mobile Explore Deeper Digital Collaboration Under CPEC Framework

The meeting highlighted the longstanding Pakistan-China relationship and explored strategic areas of collaboration in digital infrastructure under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Pakistan’s Digital Vision. The CMCC delegation included senior executives from China Mobile headquarters, while the MoITT was represented by Secretary IT, Additional Secretary IT, Chairman PTA, and other senior officials.

Key areas discussed included the development of energy-efficient, AI-enabled data centers, the acceleration of 5G rollout, and the creation of a dedicated Pak-China digital corridor through Pakistan to enhance regional connectivity. Both sides also explored opportunities to promote partnerships in content hosting with Chinese digital platforms and advance AI education in Pakistan.

These potential collaborations align with Pakistan’s national objectives of delivering 100 Mbps internet speeds, expanding fixed broadband to 10 million households, and increasing smartphone penetration to over 85%.

Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja welcomed CMCC’s ongoing investment in Pakistan, emphasizing that such strategic partnerships are vital for expanding digital access, capacity, and innovation. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a digitally inclusive and empowered Pakistan, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision.
