Dewan Cement Limited has successfully installed a 6-megawatt (MW) solar renewable energy system at its manufacturing plant located in Deh Dhando, Dhabeji, District Malir, Karachi. The company disclosed this development in a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday, in compliance with Section 96 of the Securities Act, 2015 and PSX disclosure regulations.
According to the company’s official communication, more than 50% of the operational energy needs at the facility are now being met through this renewable energy source. Dewan Cement described the initiative as a major step toward sustainable energy and operational efficiency.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to sustainable energy and focused operational efficiency,” the company stated, adding that the investment is expected to yield cost savings and reduce Pakistan’s reliance on imported fuels.
The move is part of a broader industry trend toward adopting clean energy solutions in response to rising energy costs and environmental concerns.
