Denmark, Pakistan Strengthen Mining Ties as FLSmidth Launches Training Program for Engineers

The meeting underscored the critical role of Danish expertise in Pakistan’s mining and mineral development sector. Special recognition was given to FLSmidth, a global leader in sustainable mining technology, for its potential to modernize Pakistan’s mineral extraction processes. FLSmidth has already entered into five partnership agreements in Pakistan’s minerals sector and is set to launch a training program under the Bradshaw Research Initiative for Minerals and Mining (BRIMM), providing specialized training for 100 Pakistani engineers.

Danish companies are eager to contribute to Pakistan’s economic and environmental goals by introducing advanced solutions in green mining, automation, and digitalization. FLSmidth’s cutting-edge technology in cement production, mineral processing, and decarbonization aligns with Pakistan’s objective to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact in the extractive industries.

Minister Malik highlighted Pakistan’s vast mineral reserves and reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering an investor-friendly environment. He extended full support for Danish investment and technology transfer in the mining sector and invited Danish firms, including FLSmidth, to explore new opportunities at the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum on April 8-9, 2025.

Ambassador Linulf reaffirmed Denmark’s support for Pakistan’s energy transition and industrial growth, emphasizing that Danish firms are eager to strengthen collaborations.

Additionally, Danish shipping giant MAERSK has committed to a $2 billion investment in Pakistan’s deep-sea port. The company will focus on ship recycling and refueling with green ammonia, further cementing Denmark’s role in Pakistan’s sustainable industrial development.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to expand engagement between Pakistani stakeholders and Danish technology providers, with FLSmidth playing a pivotal role in modernizing Pakistan’s mining sector. — PID
