Honda Atlas Cars (Pakistan) Limited has announced plans to introduce hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) models in Pakistan, marking a significant step toward sustainable mobility. The announcement was made through an official disclosure to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday.
The company stated that this move reflects its commitment to offering innovative and eco-friendly transportation solutions to meet the evolving needs of the Pakistani market. While specific details, including the launch timeline and vehicle specifications, have not yet been disclosed, Honda Atlas confirmed that further information will be shared in due course.
“This initiative aligns with our mission to promote green and sustainable transportation,” the company noted in its statement, adding that the introduction of HEVs will strengthen its product portfolio and address the growing demand for environmentally conscious vehicles in the country.
The announcement triggered a positive response in the stock market, with Honda Atlas shares surging by Rs24.24, or 8.31%, to close at Rs316.02. The company now commands a market capitalization of Rs45.13 billion, with 142.8 million shares in circulation.
A joint venture with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. of Japan, Honda Atlas has been operating in Pakistan since July 1994 and is recognized as one of the key players in the country’s automotive sector. – ER
