Thar Foundation of Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC) has partnered with Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) to upgrade Government Polytechnic Institute (GPI) Mithi enabling it to produce good quality associate engineers who can compete in the job market, especially in rapidly increasing mining and power sector projects in Thar.
The Institute established in the year 2003 offers Diploma Associate Engineer (DAE) and certificate courses in various disciplines including Electrical, Mining and Civil technologies.
Under this partnership department of Mechanical technology will be established, faculty will be trained, all laboratories will be upgraded with modern equipment and curriculum will be updated to meet market needs.
Thar Foundation SECMC will provide scholarships to students of Thar to acquire DAE and certificate courses to compete in the job market. The first batch under this program is currently being enrolled
