At least 15 people were killed and seven others injured on Thursday after a powerful boiler explosion destroyed a chemical factory in Malikpur Shahab Town, Faisalabad. Rescue 1122 officials confirmed that the blast was so intense it caused the factory to collapse completely, while the roofs of several nearby houses also caved in.
Rescue teams reported that 14 bodies had been recovered from the debris, while one injured person succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Seven others were pulled out alive and shifted to a nearby medical facility, where they are receiving treatment. Officials fear that more people may still be trapped under the rubble as the search and rescue operation continues.
According to initial findings, the explosion was likely caused by a gas leakage leading to a steamer (boiler) blast inside the Samad Bond chemical manufacturing unit, located near the Kabaddi Stadium Ground.
Three additional industrial units — glue, silicone, and embroidery factories — were situated adjacent to the affected unit. Although these units were closed at the time, they sustained structural damage. The impact also affected at least nine nearby houses. – ER Report
