PAKISTAN
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan inaugurated the Made in Uzbekistan Exhibition on the sidelines of the Pakistan–Uzbekistan Business Forum in Islamabad, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to strengthen bilateral trade, industrial cooperation, and private-sector engagement with Uzbekistan.
The ceremony was attended by the Uzbek Minister of Trade, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, and SAPM on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan. Jam Kamal formally cut the ribbon to open the exhibition, which showcases a diverse range of Uzbek industrial and consumer products.
Visiting various stalls, the Commerce Minister appreciated the quality and export potential of Uzbek goods, noting that such exhibitions translate strong political ties into tangible economic outcomes. He highlighted ongoing efforts to expand trade through mechanisms such as the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), Joint Business Council, and regular business forums.
Jam Kamal said previous forums had already led to multiple MoUs and commercial understandings, expressing confidence that the current event would further enhance cooperation in textiles, leather, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, engineering, consumer goods, and logistics. He also stressed the need to develop alternative regional trade corridors to facilitate uninterrupted trade despite connectivity challenges.
Other dignitaries emphasized opportunities in connectivity, agriculture, and industrial partnerships. The exhibition, held on February 5–6, 2026, provides a platform for Pakistani and Uzbek businesses to explore long-term commercial collaboration and market access. – ER News Desk
