Prof. Dr. Engr. Zahid Hussain Khand has been granted another four-year term as Vice Chancellor of Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design and Heritage, Sukkur, by the Government of Sindh.
The extension will allow Dr Khand to continue leading the public-sector university, which focuses on art, architecture, design and the preservation of cultural heritage.
The decision was approved in September 2026.
According to media reports, the extension followed a recommendation by Sindh Assembly Speaker Owais Qadir Shah, reversing an earlier proposal to advertise the position and appoint a new vice chancellor through a selection process.
Reports also stated that Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah had initially recommended advertising the position and considering Dr Khand for reappointment if no suitable candidate emerged through the selection process. The subsequent approval granted him another four-year tenure.
Dr Khand’s extension comes at a significant stage in the development of Aror University, which aims to promote higher education in creative disciplines while connecting the region’s cultural heritage with contemporary academic and professional opportunities.
