PAKISTAN
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi attended the NUST Convocation 2025 as the Chief Guest and congratulated the graduating students, faculty, and parents on their achievements.
Addressing the ceremony, the minister lauded the hard work, discipline, and vision of the graduates, commending NUST’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation. He said that the future of Pakistan rests in the hands of young, educated, and visionary individuals who can lead the nation with integrity, knowledge, and purpose.
Encouragement for Youth and Lifelong Learning
Khalid Hussain Magsi urged the graduates to remain focused, curious, and resilient, continuing their pursuit of learning and transforming ideas into meaningful contributions for society. “Your education gives you the power to shape not only your career but also the destiny of your country,” he said.
Highlighting Women’s Participation in STEM
Addressing the gender gap in science and technology, the minister highlighted that only 16% of Pakistani women currently pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers. In contrast, he appreciated NUST’s progress, noting that 30% of its graduates are women.
He stressed that national progress depends on active participation of women across all sectors, quoting Fatima Jinnah: “No nation can rise to the height of glory unless its women are side by side with men.”
The minister said empowering women in education and the workforce is essential for Pakistan’s social equity and sustainable economic growth.
Call for Integrity and National Unity
Khalid Hussain Magsi remarked that while Pakistan is on the path to progress, sustainable development requires collective effort and contribution from all segments of society. He called upon the youth to serve the nation with honesty, dedication, and unity, emphasizing that a country’s true strength lies in the character of its people. – ER News Desk
