Google is set to unveil “Digital Pasban” on Thursday, an initiative aimed at helping Pakistani families protect children from online risks and encouraging safer digital experiences.
The initiative will be launched at Google’s “Safe Raho with Google” event, where the technology company is expected to share practical guidance and resources to help parents address online safety challenges affecting children.
Digital Pasban will focus on improving awareness among families and giving parents the knowledge and tools needed to guide children through the digital environment. Key concerns include exposure to inappropriate content, cyberbullying and other online threats.
Google executives Farhan S. Qureshi and Wilson White are expected to lead an open question-and-answer session and media briefing following the presentation. The session will allow journalists to discuss the initiative as well as Google’s wider plans and activities in Pakistan.
The launch comes as internet and smartphone use continues to expand in Pakistan, with children increasingly using digital platforms for education, communication and entertainment. The initiative is expected to encourage families to adopt safer and more responsible online practices.
Google has also announced plans to establish an office in Pakistan, marking a deeper commitment to the country’s growing technology sector. The office is expected to strengthen the company’s engagement with local developers, businesses, policymakers and other technology stakeholders.
While the planned office represents a broader expansion of Google’s presence in Pakistan, Digital Pasban will focus specifically on online safety and child protection.
Further details about the initiative and Google’s plans for promoting a safer digital environment are expected to be shared at the “Safe Raho with Google” event. – ERMD
