Punjab Launches SEHAR Programme to Empower Women Through Home-Based Skills Training

With an allocation of Rs970 million, the initiative aims to train 5,365 women in beautification services, hospitality, and digital skills, particularly benefiting women in remote, semi-urban, and urban areas.

Under the programme, participants will receive laptops, internet devices, data packages, and monthly stipends to support their learning. Preference will be given to widows, differently-abled women, and women from minority communities.

Training is being delivered in collaboration with leading institutions, including the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM), Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF), and industry partners.

The digital skills component includes e-commerce, English language, product research, and financial literacy, while hospitality and beautification courses focus on practical, market-oriented skills.

Congratulating the first batch of graduates, the chief minister said the programme aims to promote women’s economic empowerment, self-reliance, and greater participation in the workforce, adding that the government will also facilitate employment opportunities for successful trainees.ERMD
