Sindh Expands Mobile Healthcare Services Across 17 Districts

He said mobile health units had provided medical care to millions of patients across the province, offering essential healthcare services, laboratory testing and diagnostic facilities, particularly in areas with limited access to hospitals and medical centres.

According to Essarani, the Directorate of Mobile Diagnostic and Emergency Healthcare Services provided medical facilities to 5,019,864 patients between June 2016 and September 2026. During the same period, 1,274,322 laboratory and other medical tests were conducted.

Currently, 20 mobile units are operating in 17 districts of Sindh, including 13 mobile diagnostic units and seven mobile health units. These facilities aim to improve access to medical examinations, laboratory investigations and other essential healthcare services in underserved communities.

Highlighting the performance of the model mobile hospital established at Civil Hospital Umerkot, the adviser said the facility offered specialised services, including intensive care, gynaecology, maternity care and neonatal treatment. The hospital has so far conducted 3,654 deliveries and provided medical services to 18,178 patients.

Essarani said the mobile health units were particularly important for communities where reaching hospitals and diagnostic centres remained difficult. In addition to routine medical examinations and blood tests, the units offered specialised diagnostic investigations, including tests to support cancer detection.

He said these services helped identify diseases at an early stage and enabled patients to receive timely medical guidance and appropriate care. The provincial government, he added, was committed to strengthening the system to make healthcare more accessible to people across Sindh. – ERMD
