PTA, Meta Join Hands to Strengthen Digital Safety in Pakistan

According to a PTA statement issued on Tuesday, the partnership seeks to strengthen efforts to create a safer digital environment, particularly for children and young internet users. It will focus on capacity building, policy dialogue, awareness campaigns and the sharing of international best practices to improve digital well-being and online safety.

The collaboration will also encourage open and constructive dialogue on content safety practices, helping both sides develop a better understanding of emerging digital challenges and effective approaches to online governance. In addition, PTA and Meta will work together on issues related to regulatory compliance, online content governance and initiatives designed to enhance digital safety nationwide.

PTA Chairman Maj Gen (R) Hafeez ur Rehman said the authority remains committed to promoting digital literacy and encouraging responsible online behaviour. He noted that the partnership with Meta reflects PTA’s broader efforts to equip internet users with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate digital platforms safely and responsibly.

The agreement marks another step towards closer cooperation between the regulator and the global technology company to support a secure, inclusive and responsible digital ecosystem in Pakistan while promoting greater awareness of online safety and responsible digital engagement. – ERMD
