Nvidia has partnered with six major financial institutions to launch compute financing platforms aimed at raising more than $500 billion in third-party capital for artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company could backstop up to $125 billion, or 25% of potential deals, under the initiative.
The move comes as demand for AI computing capacity continues to surge, prompting governments, businesses and startups to invest heavily in data centres and infrastructure needed to support AI workloads.
Nvidia has signed memorandums of understanding with Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs and KKR to establish the financing platforms.
The initiative is designed to expand access to Nvidia-based infrastructure for frontier AI developers, enterprises, governments and cloud providers. It will also provide asset managers and private capital firms with longer-term, usage-linked investment opportunities.
“These financing platforms will help customers access scarce compute at scale and build the AI factories that will power every industry and country in the age of AI,” Huang said.
Nvidia said the arrangements would create dedicated pools of capital at significant scale and attractive rates for its customers.
The company did not disclose financial terms, individual investment commitments or a timeline for deploying the planned $500 billion.
The initiative comes as major technology companies continue to increase AI spending, with their combined outlays expected to exceed $730 billion this year.
The Financial Times first reported the development on Monday, which was later confirmed by Reuters. – ERMD
