The Chairman of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) called on Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, and briefed him on modern energy-efficient models aimed at reducing power consumption in industrial and domestic sectors.
During the meeting, the NTDC Chairman underscored the importance of building insulation for energy conservation, noting that proper insulation helps maintain optimal indoor temperatures and reduces energy demand. He added that the government has already begun implementing the Energy Use Building Codes to promote sustainable construction practices.
Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that integrating modern technology and energy-efficient systems is vital for Pakistan’s economic and industrial growth. He pointed out that energy consumption surges during the summer months, and improved insulation could help lower transmission costs while easing pressure on the national grid.
“Pakistan’s GDP growth is directly tied to energy costs,” said Haroon Akhtar Khan. “To stay regionally competitive, industries must adopt sustainable and energy-efficient practices.”
The Special Assistant directed the Engineering Development Board (EDB) to coordinate with NTDC and present a progress report on the implementation of these energy-saving initiatives.
Separately, a delegation from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) invited Haroon Akhtar Khan to attend the upcoming Asia Transit Summit 2025. – PID/ERMD
