SSUET Awards First PhD in Biomedical Engineering

The distinction was earned by Engr. Sania Tanvir, whose doctoral research, titled “Precision Diagnosis for Vitiligo Detection via Machine Learning,” explores the use of artificial intelligence to improve the accuracy of vitiligo diagnosis and advance healthcare diagnostics through biomedical innovation.

The research was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sidra Abid Syed, Chairperson of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, whose academic guidance and mentorship supported the successful completion of the project.

The university described the achievement as a significant step in the growth of its research and postgraduate programmes, underscoring SSUET’s commitment to promoting excellence in higher education, innovation and technological advancement.
