The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has expanded health, wellness and welfare facilities for female students living in its hostels under its Female Welfare and Wellness Initiatives.
The initiative was inaugurated at Maryam Hall by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali in the presence of Chief Hall Warden Dr Humaira Razzaq, Deputy Hall Warden Female Wing Dr Aisha Khatoon, Associate Hall Warden Nasreen Akhtar, Dr Sadaf Mehmood, Zunaira Iftikhar, members of the female hall senate and students.
Under the initiative, hostels have been provided with bicycles, refrigerators, microwave ovens, fitness equipment and vending machines to improve students’ comfort and promote healthier lifestyles.
Dr Humaira Razzaq said the university was taking measures in line with the vice chancellor’s vision to improve hostel facilities and provide students with a healthy and conducive living environment.
She stressed the importance of encouraging young people to adopt healthy activities as increasing reliance on technology has changed how students spend their time. She said the younger generation would play a vital role in shaping the country’s future, making it important to promote healthy habits among students.
Dr Razzaq said more than 9,000 students were currently residing in UAF hostels. She added that the university had already provided a range of recreational and fitness facilities, including a women’s sports complex, gymnasium, swimming pool and basketball court.
Zunaira Iftikhar and Nasreen Akhtar briefed the guests on various activities being organised for students and said the newly introduced facilities were designed to enhance their wellbeing and improve their overall living environment.
The university said the initiative reflected its commitment to creating a supportive and healthy residential environment for female students while encouraging greater participation in physical and recreational activities. – ERMD
