The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Thursday announced that it would provide all possible facilities to young entrepreneurs to help them launch their businesses and strengthen their linkages with industry.
The announcement was made at the FPCCI headquarters by Saqib Fayyaz Mango, Senior Vice President of FPCCI, during a ceremony held to honour the top five startups. The ceremony was attended by professionals and academicians from both academia and industry. He emphasized that industrial development cannot be achieved without promoting new and innovative startups.
He said that sustainable economic and industrial growth in Pakistan requires active cooperation and support for youth working on new business ideas. On the occasion, award certificates were presented to young entrepreneurs behind five successful startups.
Speaking as the chief guest, Professor Dr. Tariq Rafi, Chairman of the Sindh Higher Education Commission, highlighted the importance of technology-driven progress. He noted that technological advancement outweighs financial resources, citing global examples where nations investing in technology have achieved significant success.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rafi pointed out that Pakistan has yet to make substantial progress in exports and that its education system lags behind developed countries. He stressed the need for strong coordination between academia and industry, adding that meaningful development is not possible without industrial support for educational institutions.
He further remarked that outdated curricula are still being taught in many universities and called for closer collaboration between industrialists and vice chancellors to align education with modern scientific and technological advancements. He urged industries to take responsibility for training students and preparing them for practical challenges.
FPCCI Senior Vice President Saqib Fayyaz Mango reiterated that promoting startups is essential for industrial growth and reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs. – KARACHI: ER Report
