PAKISTAN
Millat Tractors Limited (MTL), Pakistan’s leading agricultural machinery manufacturer, is expanding its international outreach as political instability in Afghanistan continues to affect its exports. The company is now exploring new markets, including Mexico, multiple African countries, and Sri Lanka, to sustain and grow its overseas footprint.
The update was shared during a corporate briefing attended by Arif Habib Limited (AHL), where MTL’s management discussed the company’s operational performance and strategic direction.
According to AHL, MTL’s export volumes fell slightly to 2,607 units, down from 2,761 units the previous year. Afghanistan, once a key destination, has seen reduced demand amid strained diplomatic ties and deteriorating security conditions following recent border tensions and failed negotiations.
To offset the decline, MTL is actively diversifying its export destinations. The company believes new market penetration will help stabilize volumes and enhance resilience against regional uncertainties.
Domestic Sales Lifted by Green Tractor Scheme
MTL reported a strong month in October 2025, achieving 2,000 units in sales due to the government’s Green Tractor Scheme. However, management cautioned that maintaining consistent month-on-month growth will be challenging. Some recovery is expected next year as market fundamentals improve. – ERMD
