New Wafi Energy tank to strengthen fuel supplies in KP

The company said the new facility will increase its storage capacity and help improve the reliability of fuel supplies in the region, including along major routes leading to northern tourist destinations.

Officials from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), led by Senior Executive Director (Enforcement) Sohail Ahmed Tariq, attended the inauguration along with representatives of Wafi Energy Pakistan.

Wafi Energy Pakistan Chief Executive Officer Zubair Shaikh said the company was continuing to invest in the country’s energy infrastructure to meet rising fuel demand.

He said sufficient storage capacity located close to consumers was essential for maintaining reliable fuel supplies. The latest investment, he added, would strengthen the company’s ability to serve customers and support the expansion of its Shell-branded retail network.

According to the company, construction of the new tank was completed within one year, involving around 300,000 work-hours without a safety incident.

Wafi Energy said its Shell retail network now includes more than 700 fuel stations nationwide, following the addition of 32 new outlets during 2026.

The company said the latest investment is part of its long-term strategy to strengthen fuel storage infrastructure and meet Pakistan’s growing energy needs.-ERMD
