The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), in collaboration with the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department (RRSD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and its implementing partner, the Peace and Development Organization (PADO), has launched a major initiative titled “Economic Empowerment of Vulnerable Households in Pakistan through Livestock Provision.”
The project aims to enhance livelihoods, improve food security, and promote self-reliance among vulnerable families across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by providing livestock, poultry, and practical training in animal management.
According to a press release, the launching ceremony was attended by senior officials and development partners, with Noor ul Amin, Additional Secretary of the RRSD, serving as Chief Guest, and Abdullah Al-Baqami, Director of KSrelief Pakistan, representing the Saudi humanitarian organization. Representatives from UN agencies, government departments, partner organizations, and the media also participated.
Under the project:
- 1,000 families from Lower Chitral, Upper Chitral, Lower Dir, and Upper Dir will each receive two female goats, silage, and livestock management training.
- 1,000 families from Swat, Swabi, Haripur, and Mansehra will be provided 25 poultry birds per household, along with poultry kits and training on poultry care and income generation.
- 500 families from Charsadda, Mardan, and Nowshera will receive cattle, silage, and hands-on training in animal care and dairy production.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdullah Al-Baqami said the initiative underscores the strong brotherly relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and reaffirms KSrelief’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
Chief Guest Noor ul Amin expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s generous support and commended the collaboration between KSrelief, PADO, and the Livestock Department in implementing a project that directly benefits rural families.
The initiative is expected to help reduce poverty, enhance food security, and create new income-generating opportunities for disaster-affected and low-income households across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
