Amazon Raises India Investment Commitment to $48bn Through 2030

The latest commitment comes on top of the $35 billion investment plan announced last year, underscoring the company’s growing focus on India as a key market for technology and digital infrastructure.

The announcement followed a meeting between Amazon Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

In a post on social media platform X, Jassy said Amazon plans to invest $48 billion in India through 2030, including more than $21 billion dedicated to AI and cloud infrastructure.

According to the company, the additional $13 billion investment will be directed toward expanding AI and cloud infrastructure in the Mumbai and Hyderabad regions.

The move reflects the increasing interest of major global technology firms in India, which has emerged as a strategic destination for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and deep-tech development.

Other leading U.S. technology companies have also announced significant investments in the country.

Microsoft has committed $17.5 billion for AI and cloud infrastructure projects in India, while Google has pledged $15 billion over the next five years to develop AI-focused data centres.-ERMD
