Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday instructed relevant ministries and departments to fast-track the integration of private-sector recommendations into a unified national industrial policy, stressing that coordinated and timely decision-making was vital for sustainable economic growth.
Chairing a meeting of the private-sector committee on national industrial development, the prime minister said the government aimed to swiftly convert expert recommendations into actionable reforms. He noted that economic growth, job creation and higher incomes were not possible without strong industrial expansion.
During the meeting, private-sector members presented proposals focused on boosting industrial development and attracting greater investment. Welcoming the recommendations, the prime minister said the business community had prepared comprehensive and commendable inputs that would play a key role in shaping the country’s industrial future. After detailed review, the government will finalize an implementation plan based on these proposals, he added.
PM Shehbaz instructed that the private sector’s suggestions be merged with recommendations from other economic segments and incorporated into the broader national policy framework. He reiterated that improving the ease of doing business and increasing investment inflows were among the government’s top priorities.
He acknowledged the private sector’s support during difficult economic periods and said Pakistan’s economic direction had improved by the grace of Allah, but emphasized the need for continued hard work to secure long-term national development.
The meeting also included a comparative analysis with regional economies to identify ways of enhancing Pakistan’s industrial competitiveness.
Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Adviser to the PM Muhammad Ali, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, and industrialists from the Industrial Working Group led by Saqib Shirazi attended the session. – APP/ER
